July 1st will be this Site's 4 year Anniversary!
I'm calling all Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deafblind, and Blind Artists, Photographers, Graphic Artists and the like for a CONTEST!
WHAT: A new Logo Cover - A new title cover for this site, a Facebook Cover, and a Thumbnail picture that represents Deaflbindness in a clear and positive way:
WHEN: Deadline to Submit - June 1st 2017 by Midnight CDT REQUIREMENT: You must be Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deafblind, or Blind by submitting some kind of proof - your social media information, youtube video, etc. I want to support my local disabled community please. PROCESS: After June 1st submissions will be listed here on my Blog - up to 20 entries - if over 20 entries, I will whittle it down myself using the criteria listed above. (Any entries not following the criteria will be sent back with an explanation and a chance to try again.) Then Viewers will get to vote for their favorite design. The Winner will be revealed on July 1st on the 4th Anniversary! LIMIT: One Entry per Person please. PRIZE: A $15 E-Gift Card of your choice - see GiftCards.com Good Luck & Have Fun!! UPDATE: - Put your name in a corner of your artwork or photo. - Include your email and 1 or 2 sentences describing your artwork and the concept behind it. I realized I forgot to include a Submission Button!! UPDATE #2: - Have received only 1 entry. - Extended the Deadline to June 9th at Midnight CDT - Changed requirements to include Parents & Family of Deafblind, Deaf, and Blind individuals.

Please note: I didn't include State Association Meetings - those are easy to look up by searching your State's Association of the Deaf.

12 - 13 Mayfest, Toronto, ON JUNE 22 - 25 Hearing Loss Association of America, Salt Lake Cty, UT 25 - 27 The American Society for Deaf Children Conference, West Hartford, CT 28 - July 1 ASL Elevated, hosted by ASLTA, Salt Lake City, UT JULY 27 - 29 2017 Biennial TDI Conference, Bethesda, MD AUGUST 27 - Sept 2 SEABECK Deafblind Retreat, Seattle WA SEPTEMBER ? OCTOBER 5 - 7 NAD Leadership Training Conference, Oklahoma City, OK NOVEMBER 8 - 10 3rd International Confernce of the World Federation of the Deaf, Budapest, Hungary DECEMBER ? Here's a list of events happening throughout the year that may interest DB people: Passages Deaf Travel Hawaii Cruise: April 20 – May 2 Deaf Group Hawaii Cruise 2016 on Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the Seas For more information on prices, rooms, tours, etc. check out their website. Saint Louis DEAFestival June 4th Held at St. Louis Union Station. For more information on exhibitors & tickets to their Gala Dinner, check out their webpage. (This one, I'm actually thinking about attending) Maryland DB Camp: June 12 – 17 The theme this year is "Roaring '20s". Check out their website for directions and application. American Council for the Blind (ACB) conference: July 1 – 9 (Minneapolis, MN) Not exactly DB focused, but they do have a Sight and Sound Impaired Committee for DB Check out their website for more information. Deaf Nation World Expo (Las Vegas, NV): July 5 – 8 Not DB focused, but a lot of Deafblind do attend to meet other Deaf people from around the World. It's held at the Paris Las Vegas hotel, more information can be found here. DB Alaska Cruise (DnA Travels): July 10 – 17 The third annual deafblind cruise is going to Alaska! For the flyer, prices, contact, etc. See this page. International DB Expo (Orlando, FL): Aug. 17 – 20 More than 600 people attended the last one in 2014 in Las Vegas. This year it's in Orlando Florida. The theme is "Community Partnerships without Barriers" More information can be found on this page. Seabeck DB Camp (Seabeck, WA): Aug. 28 – Sept. 3 (this isn’t a confirmed date yet – their website isn’t updated for this year – but it is usually the last week of Aug.) Follow this page for any updates DB Escape Cruise (Bahamas & Caribbean): Nov. 12 – 19 Registration is still being accepted, but unfortunately I just found out that today (Feb. 5th) is the last day to bring your SSP for free in the same room. After 11pmEST tonight, you'll have to pay for SSP as well. For more information, here's the page. On January 24 & 25th 2015 is the Online Deafblind National Conference. The title is ""The DeafBlind Community:
Communication, Trends & Techniques". All you need is a computer with a high speed connection, no webcam required. Guests are nationally recognized experts in the Deafblind community & include: Chris Woodfill, Eugene Bourquin, Christopher Tester & Jelica Nuccio and a bunch more! Topics include: State of the Deafblind Community, Common Eye diseases & Interpreting strategies, tactile maps as communication tools, Pro Tactile, & Understanding the Community.
